Robin is an AI-powered SMS platform that helps organizations automatically respond to text messages. By texting a Robin-powered number, you agree to receive automated responses. Organizations that create accounts on the Robin platform agree to additional terms covering billing, acceptable use, and their responsibilities to their own contacts. Standard message and data rates apply. You can opt out anytime by texting STOP.

Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Robin's SMS communication services operated by Birdhouse Technologies Inc. ("Robin," "we," "us," or "our"). By using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

These Terms apply to two distinct groups:

  • Contacts: Individuals who text a Robin-powered number and receive SMS responses.
  • Customers: Organizations and individuals who create a Robin account, configure Robin-powered experiences, and are responsible for their contacts' experience.

If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our services or text any Robin-powered phone numbers.

SMS Service Terms

Program Description

Robin provides AI-powered SMS communication services that enable organizations to automatically respond to text messages from their audience. When you text a Robin-powered number, you may receive:

  • Automated responses to your questions powered by AI
  • Event announcements and updates (if you opt-in)
  • Informational messages about the organization you're texting
  • Promotional messages (only with your explicit consent)

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on your interaction. When you send a message, you will receive a response. If you opt-in to announcements, you may receive additional messages as determined by the organization you're communicating with.

Message and Data Rates

Standard message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier for details about your messaging plan.

Opt-In & Opt-Out

Consent

By texting a Robin-powered number, you consent to receive automated SMS responses. For announcement messages, you may be asked to provide additional opt-in consent. Robin Customers are responsible for ensuring their contacts have provided appropriate consent before receiving messages.

Opt-Out Instructions

You can opt out of receiving messages at any time:

  • Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe from all future messages
  • Reply HELP for assistance or support contact information

After opting out, you will receive a one-time confirmation message. You can re-subscribe at any time by texting the number again.

Platform Accounts (Customers)

Account Creation

To create a Robin account, you must be at least 18 years of age and provide accurate, complete information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

Billing & Subscriptions

Robin offers subscription-based plans. By subscribing, you agree to:

  • Pay all fees associated with your selected plan
  • Automatic renewal of your subscription at the end of each billing period unless cancelled
  • Fees being charged to your payment method on file
  • No refunds for partial subscription periods, except where required by law

Cancellation

You may cancel your Robin subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting us at hello@robin.guide. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You retain access to your account until then.

Customer Responsibilities

As a Robin Customer, you are responsible for:

  • The accuracy and legality of content you configure Robin to deliver
  • Obtaining and documenting proper opt-in consent from your contacts
  • Complying with all applicable laws, including anti-spam and telecommunications regulations
  • Ensuring your use of Robin does not violate any third-party rights
  • Promptly honouring opt-out requests from your contacts

Prohibited Content & Use

The following content categories are strictly prohibited on the Robin platform, in compliance with carrier requirements and applicable law:

  • Adult content, sexually explicit material, or content involving minors
  • Hate speech, discrimination, or content targeting protected characteristics
  • Threats, harassment, or abusive messaging of any kind
  • Content promoting illegal activities, including drug sales or firearms trafficking
  • Phishing, fraud, or deceptive messaging
  • Spam or unsolicited bulk messaging
  • Content that violates any third-party intellectual property rights

Robin reserves the right to immediately suspend or terminate any account found to be sending prohibited content, without prior notice.

Acceptable Use

Beyond prohibited content, you agree not to use our services to:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other accounts
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from our platform
  • Interfere with or disrupt the availability of our services
  • Circumvent any rate limits, filters, or access controls
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations

AI-Powered Responses

Robin uses artificial intelligence to generate automated responses. While we strive for accuracy, you should be aware that:

  • AI responses are generated based on information provided by the organization operating the service — Robin is not responsible for that information being incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate
  • Responses may occasionally contain errors
  • AI responses are not professional, legal, medical, or financial advice — for critical matters, verify through official channels
  • Robin Customers are responsible for reviewing and maintaining the accuracy of the content they configure Robin to use

Third-Party Integrations

Robin may integrate with or connect to third-party services and platforms. Robin is not responsible for:

  • The availability, accuracy, or reliability of any third-party service
  • Data practices of third-party providers
  • Outages or service interruptions caused by third-party providers

Your use of any third-party integrations is subject to that third party's own terms and privacy policies.

Intellectual Property

The Robin platform, including its software, design, trademarks, and content, is owned by Birdhouse Technologies Inc. and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer any part of our service without our prior written consent.

Content you provide to configure Robin (such as FAQs, event details, and organization information) remains yours. By providing it, you grant Robin a licence to use that content solely to operate and improve the service on your behalf.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Robin and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our services, including but not limited to loss of data, revenue, or goodwill. Our total liability shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred Canadian dollars (CAD $100).

Disclaimer of Warranties

Our services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that our services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.

Governing Law & Compliance

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Manitoba and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

Robin operates in compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Customers operating in the United States are additionally responsible for compliance with applicable US federal and state laws, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify Customers of material changes by posting the updated Terms on our website and, where practical, via email. Your continued use of our services after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
